SCIDU Chapter Expo 2013

SCIDU-0610131

Exceeding 4,000 attendees and more than 100 booth spaces, this year’s Hunting Outdoor & Gun Show was a terrific success. Exhibitors included outfitters from all around the world including those from USA, Africa, New Zealand and, of course, Australia. We also had a variety of importers, distributors, resellers, hunting and travel consultants, firearm, gun and ammunition manufacturers and suppliers and displays, as well as several taxidermists, and Steve McEwen's Reptile World.

With an assortment of media attention, we were projected onto the local television news stations as well as various newspapers. Search the Internet for “Hunters unite at Tamworth Expo” and see our story.

We received an enormous positive response to this year’s show with just some of those comments being, “awesome show, well worth the seven-hour drive from Kingaroy,” “loved the taxidermy, how incredible,” “well set out, great venue, great place,” “congratulations on another great show.”

As well as our many exhibitors, we were also supported by the Shooters and Fishers Party and Senators Mr. Robert Borsak MLC and Mr. Robert Brown MLC.  We also had the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service.

SCIDU-0610132Our Saturday night fundraising dinner drew almost 200 attendees and auctioned off more than 25 donated items. These auctions included various hunts from around the globe including moose in BC, wolf in Macedonia, elk in Canada, muskox, mule deer in Colorado, red deer in NZ, mouflon in Spain, aoudad in Texas as well as a variety of desirable African hunts. We also had the privilege of auctioning a custom made ‚ÄúSCI Down Under Inc.‚Äù one of a kind 7×57 Mauser rifle.

Throughout the weekend, we conducted a number of silent auctions including three donated oil paintings with all proceeds going to the Australian Leukaemia Foundation. We were also privileged to award our hardworking, indispensable Secretary, Gay Hammond, with a prestigious “SCI Down Under Inc. Life Membership.”  On top of all of that, we signed up another 20+ SCI Members.

We have not yet confirmed a time and date for our next show, but look to our website for future information–www.scidownunder.org–or contact our coordinators Ray Hammond Jr. or Anthony Hammond at [email protected]Anthony Hammond
