SCI Arizona Chapter Honored

AZSCI-logoThe Arizona Chapter of Safari Club International will be among several Arizonans honored at the 22nd Annual Arizona Game and Fish Commission Awards Banquet on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at the Carefree Resort & Conference Center, 37220 Mule Train Road, Carefree, AZ 85377.  The Arizona Game and Fish Commission banquet is an annual event to recognize and honor individuals and organizations for their contributions to the conservation of wildlife, Arizona's outdoor heritage, and the mission of the Arizona Game and Fish Department. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. and will be followed by dinner and the awards ceremony. The cost is $55 per person. Since 1991, the Commission has presented more than 317 awards.

SCI CEO Phil DeLone remarked that the Arizona Chapter “is actively involved in conservation and youth programs” and that this recognition was “well deserved” and earned through “hard work and dedication.”

Projects the Arizona Chapter of SCI helps fund or is involved in include reintroducing bighorn sheep to the Catalina Mountains and increasing fawn survival rates for relocated pronghorn antelope. The Chapter hosts an annual youth deer hunt and a Junior Jackrabbit Camp, and each year members donate time and equipment to help create new or maintain existing water catchments in the Arizona desert.

All costs associated with the awards banquet are paid for by ticket sales and sponsorship donations. Award table sponsorships are available for $550 and include a table in the sponsor's name, logo advertisement in the event program, recognition in the introductory PowerPoint presentation and event news release, and four banquet tickets for the sponsoring organization. The RSVP registration form and Sponsorship Package Information are available for download online at www.azgfd.gov/commissionawards.
