SCI Northern Nevada Chapter Hosts Feed the Hungry Feast

NNSCI Board members, in conjunction with the SCI Foundation, the Salvation Army and several other sponsors from the Reno/Sparks area, volunteered to serve approximately 1,650 meals at the annual Feed the Hungry Feast at the Reno Events Center.   NNSCI Board members and other SCI volunteers Dennis Laczynski, Tom and JoAnn Enewold, Judi Caron, Terry Melby and Scott and Sarah Carone, joined more than 160 volunteers participating in a spirited effort to serve the less fortunate in our surrounding areas.  Sponsors included the Salvation Army, Washoe County Sheriff’s Department, RSCVA, C & M Foods, the Eldorado and Harrah’s Casinos, Model Dairy, Truckee Sourdough Company, US Food Service and Sierra Sportservice.  Volunteers joining NNSCI were from the SCI North American Hand Gun Chapter, the Eldorado, Harrah’s, High Sierra Chefs Association and culinary students, Wells Fargo, US Bank, Boy Scout Troop 152, and the McQueen High School Football Team.

Though the national 2012 SCI Convention was held in Las Vegas, the SCI Foundation thought it was important to maintain and continue this program in Reno. One cannot begin to express the thoughts and feelings that this event brings to the volunteers and to the community served. The guests were extremely thankful for the dinner and enjoyed the excellent meal prepared with the wild game. This is a truly rewarding annual event. The group looks forward to providing the same opportunity to share this with the community in 2013 when SCI Convention returns to Reno.– Terrance Melby, Chapter Director
