Winner of the North American Category in the WGH Hunting Awards Challenge
Congratulations to Rachel Gavin, winner of the North American Category in SCI’s Women Go Hunting (WGH) – Hunting Awards Challenge! Rachel took this Rocky Mountain mule deer in Montana and submitted a photo entry to the SCI World Hunting Awards Program, operated by the SCI Record Book Department.
The annual Women Go Hunting Challenge celebrates the women who participate in the World Hunting Awards Program, offering them the opportunity to win a $100 gift card from Próis Hunting just for submitting an entry.
Sponsoring the Challenge for a third consecutive year, Próis President Kirstie Pike provided WGH with 10 gift certificates to award to women entering trophies in categories for Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, South America, South Pacific, Wild Turkeys of the World, Youth Hunters, First Time Entrants, and All Entries.
Entries for the SCI World Hunting Awards Program do not require measurements or minimum scores, so trophies from any species recognized by the Record Book may be entered. Rachel’s mule deer entry counts towards several award levels in the program, including the North American 12, North American 29, North American Deer, Animals of North America, Antlered Game of the Americas, and Antlered Game of the World.
WGH encourages women to document their hunting accomplishments through SCI’s awards program. Many participants are surprised to find how close they are to accomplishing a level when they get started by simply entering animals from their past hunts. Award levels are completed when the hunter submits the minimum required trophies. SCI members interested in the Award Program can download a copy of the World Hunting Awards Field Journal for all the details. The program is open to all members, although the WGH Challenge is for ladies only.
