The Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD) announced the raffle sales program brought in more than $900,000, exceeding last year’s take of over $820,000.
The Wyoming Super Tag program was established by Governor Matt Mead and the Wyoming Legislature. It has raised $3.7 million since its inception in 2013.
The program is designed to give hunters the opportunity to pursue Wyoming’s big game animals while raising money for the state’s wildlife management programs.
WGFD director Scott Talbott said the funds from the Super Tag sales contribute to the Game and Fish general fund and are used to pay for projects such as the Wyoming Mule Deer Initiative, big game migration corridor designations and chronic wasting disease monitoring.
Each year, 12 hunters are selected from the raffle entries. Ten of those hunters have the opportunity to hunt bighorn sheep, moose, mountain goat, elk, bison, deer, pronghorn, black bear, grey wolf or mountain lion.
One Super Tag Trifecta winner gets to choose any three of the hunts. The final winner receives a gear package with top-of-the-line hunting equipment and apparel.
