Take Me Out To The Ball Game – And Buy Me A Veggie Burger

That may have to be the only choice for ballgame fans in New York City since Mayor Bill De Blasio announced the elimination of processed meats – including the beloved hot dog!

The mayor approved the $14 billion Green New Deal (sound familiar?) for New York last month, according to a report on 943wsc.iheart.com.

As part of the plan, New York City will be the first city to eliminate processed meats. The plan calls for a 50 percent reduction of red meat purchases in city-controlled facilities such as hospitals, schools and correctional facilities.

The city already started down this path in 2017 when all NYC schools adopted Meatless Mondays.

Mayor de Blasio has apparently bought-in to the idea that the earth has only 12 years left until it is destroyed by climate change.

“It is a difficult plan. It is a necessary plan…. Estimates that tell us that we have only 12 years to get it right. Let’s be clear, we have until 2030 to change things fundamentally, or our lives won’t be the same,” Mayor de Blasio said at an Earth Day event.

It looks like baseball fans will have to pack their own hotdogs for the game. Somehow, not paying $8 for a hotdog just doesn’t seem right.
