I’m a perfectionist. I’ve played it safe my whole life, living within my perfectly planned comfort zone. I turned 40 and realized I didn’t have any adventures, any stories to tell. I realized that within my comfort zone, I was missing out on really living. It was now or never!
I sat down to construct a list of “adventures” that I wanted to try. Atop the list was hunting. That was nearly a year ago. Since that time, I’ve had the opportunity to hunt dove, quail, pheasant, blackbuck, roe deer, fallow deer… and I’m just getting started. Through it I’ve gained new skills and confidence, new friends and stories galore! I’ve learned there’s just so much magic out there when you get the courage to step outside your comfort zone.
I joined the SCI Women Go Hunting Facebook Group, and I’m looking forward to attending the SCI Convention next year for the very first time. – Elizabeth Donahue
