South African Apie Reyneke, Owner Of Serapa Safaris, Killed In Tragic Helicopter Crash

Serapa Safaris was killed while flying his Robinson helicopter which crashed while in route to Delareyville, North-West province, South Africa. Seriously hurt was his wife Yolande (42) and son Abraham (13) who have narrowly survived this tragic event albeit with extensive injuries. Following the accident, both were transferred to a Pretoria hospital critical care unit, and as of June 1 are in intensive care.

The Reyneke family and their very successful and respected safari operation have been long-time exhibitors at the Safari Club International annual convention and are also active members of the Professional Hunters Association of South Africa (PHASA).

Prior to developing Serapa Safaris, Reyneke enjoyed a successful career in South African off-road motorsports and is considered a legend in the motorsports fraternity there, having secured numerous championship Off-Road racing titles including the grueling Toyota 1000 Desert Race.

On behalf of Safari Club International we express our heartfelt condolences to Yolande, their two sons and the entire Reyneke family for their loss. Apie was a devoted husband and father, successful rancher and safari operator. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.–Phil DeLone, SCI Chief Executive Officer¬†
