SCI’s “Protect Your Freedom to Hunt”
During the SCI Convention in Reno recently, a luncheon and auction benefitted SCI’s “SuperPac” Hunter Action Fund, which supports pro-hunting candidates across America.
SCI Government Affairs Committee Co-Chair Amy Callender emceed the event, which included a spell-binding presentation by guest speaker Jack Carr, a New York Times bestselling author and former Navy SEAL combat leader.
A committed hunter and SCI life member, Carr described the ordeal of SEAL training and preparation for life as a special operator—all while being a devoted husband and father.
During his 20 years in Naval Special Warfare, he transitioned from an enlisted SEAL sniper specializing in communications and intelligence, to a junior officer leading assault and sniper teams in Iraq and Afghanistan, to a platoon commander practicing counterinsurgency in the southern Philippines, to commanding a Special Operations task Unit in the most Iranian influenced section of southern Iraq during the tumultuous drawdown of U.S. Forces.
Carr is a writer and sought-after consultant in the outdoor and tactical industries, regularly speaks on leadership and team building to businesses across the country. He is the author of a political/military thriller titled The Terminal List, released by Simon & Shuster in March 2018. The thriller has already been optioned for a movie. His second book, True Believer, will hit the book shelves in April 2019.
