LHAS is off to a great start. “It has been an exciting and productive year for SCI’s LHAS Governing Body,” said Brook Minx, Corporate Secretary of SCI Foundation. “The Society’s financial support as well as its confidence in the Governing Body has resulted in good news for three outstanding projects that were awarded funds this year. Being on the Governing Body is a privilege that carries with it a tremendous fiduciary responsibility to create returns on LHAS investments as demonstrated by tangible outcomes.”

Charlotte North Carolina Chapter
Project Title: Right to Hunt and Fish
Type: Advocacy Project
Amount Requested & Approved: $5,000
Purpose: Using funds to support this very important North Carolina Right to Hunt amendment to increase turnout through digital media among pro-Second Amendment and pro-hunting citizens in North Carolina ahead of the November election where a right to hunt and fish amendment will be considered.
Alberta, Canada SCI Chapters: Badlands, Calgary, Drayton Valley and Red Deer District
Project Title: Alberta-based SCI Chapter Business and Strategy Plan for Four Chapters
Type: Advocacy
Amount Requested & Approved: $8,000
Purpose: To develop an Alberta-based SCI Chapter Business and Strategy Plan that recognizes the positive benefits hunting and hunters bring to our society and outlines our goals and objectives with timelines and responsibilities. These goals and objectives will include but are not limited to: advocacy and government relations; communication and awareness; long-term financial sustainability and stability and succession planning.
Education – TV series/ Classroom Curriculum
Project Title: American Legacy Hunter Project
Type: Advocacy, Marketing
Amount Requested & Approved: $30,000
Purpose: This education project was featured in Safari Times. It is a children’s education television show called Into the Woods currently airing on outdoor networks. Specifically, it is a television show/education series targeted at educators and teachers to teach youth about sustainable use hunting. A curriculum has also been developed for classrooms to go along with the television shows. SCI LHAS is one of several sponsors of the series.
SCI LHAS uses contributions paid by its members to fund advocacy projects that protect the privilege of hunting and protect our hunting heritage. Launched in 2016, SCI LHAS was created to allow SCI Life Members, those who have already taken a big step in protecting the freedom to hunt, to raise additional funds dedicated and restricted solely to SCI's advocacy mission. Funds are restricted solely to advocacy in the area of litigation, marketing, legislative and voter education, and similar advocacy actions, excluding lobbying.
Life Hunter Advocacy Society participants receive a member shirt, certificate and pin for each level. Diamond Level Members also receive the choice of a vest or cashmere scarf.
