Most, if not all, SCI Chapter meetings and fundraising banquets have been cancelled or postponed due to the raging pandemic of COVID-19. The Hungarian Chapter found a unique way to make the best of the situation.

In a letter to SCI officials, József Németh, President of SCI’s Hungarian Chapter said, “We were supposed to have our annual general meeting and gala dinner in March. Due to the current coronavirus restrictions these events were cancelled. “

“On the recommendation of one of our members, we have voluntarily offered the cost of the dinner to the Trust Fund of two Hungarian hospitals (St László and St. István Hospitals) that can help to protect us during Covid-19,” the letter went on to say.

In addition to donating the cost of the dinner, several chapter members also donated additional funds bringing the total to over $12,000 (USD)!

“I hope that with this initiative we'll set an example for others. We'd like to show that the hunting community can be counted on in the times of need and suffer[ing],” concluded Németh.

SCI chapters and individual members have been stepping up around the world to assist during this very difficult time across the globe. The actions taken voluntarily by the Hungarian Chapter are a perfect example of the “can-do” selflessness of the world-wide hunting community and one of the many reasons the SCI family can be proud of their fellow hunters.
