SCI Family Mobilizes To Support Flood Victims
In coordination with local officials and community partners, the Safari Club International and Texas Trophy Hunters Association office in San Antonio is serving as a drop-off location for critical supplies to support Kerr County and surrounding areas.
“In the face of heartbreaking devastation, our TTHA and SCI members have once again shown the true spirit of the hunting community,” said Texas Trophy Hunter Association CEO Christina Pittman. “They are coming together without hesitation to support those in need.”
Safari Club International and Texas Trophy Hunters Association staff and their families have been working together to offer support to the victims of the recent floods that devastated parts of the Texas Hill Country over the July 4 weekend.
The SCI and TTHA building was not impacted and business continued as usual despite the rains and floods. But many staff families and friends of the organization were affected.
Logan Hall and several other TTHA employees worked with several community groups the in area of Kerrville when the Guadalupe River flowed over its banks.
Hall and crew dropped off supplies at several locations, and helped the support recovery efforts near a Saddle Wood neighborhood where they ran recovery operations.
They worked with Intrepid Care, a community group that serves veterans and others in need, to create go buckets for volunteers heading out in the field to help with search and recovery.
“It was amazing to watch all walks of life come together to help during this travesty that hit home to many,” said Hall.
SCI Texas, TTHA and Louisiana Chapters are providing help where it’s needed. Chapter members have been on-site, offering support to city leaders in the ongoing disaster response, focusing on the needs of displaced families and providing resources for cleanup. (See page 5.)
“It has been a tremendous blessing to witness so many individuals, along with the SCI Texas and Louisiana Chapters, unite to bring relief and hope to families affected by the floods,” said Pittman. “This is what it means to be a part of something bigger than ourselves.”
