Outdoors Day A Huge Success

outdoors day

On March 9, 2019, the SCIF International Wildlife Museum hosted its 4th Annual Outdoors Day. The event is dedicated to getting people excited and informed about current outdoor recreation activities, including hunting. The event allows families to come and experience first-hand outdoor activities, including archery, BB gun shooting and horseback riding, as well as learn about wildlife science and conservation.

The Huachuca Gould’s National Wild Turkey Federation, Arizona Outdoor Women and Pima County Search and Rescue were just a handful of the 10 organizations that came out and participated in the event. An archery station was set up by the SCIF/Museum staff, giving the opportunity for visitors to try out archery, many for the first time. The archery station was extremely popular! Many people came back multiple times and there were people waiting in line to try archery even after the event was over. The Huachuca Gould’s National Turkey Federation had an inflatable BB gun station set up, giving kids the opportunity to shoot at a representation of a turkey.

In total, 676 visitors attended Outdoors Day, making it a very successful event! Kids were leaving excited that they got to try archery, shoot a BB gun and ride a horse, and wanted to know when the next Outdoors Day event would be.
