My First Duck Hunt

I first started hunting with my dad when I was very young. Once I left for college, I didn’t get to hunt as much, but after graduating, I found a great group of ladies who introduced me to waterfowl, upland birds, and turkey hunting.

I’ll never forget my first duck hunt with them. I spotted a duck land in the water while everyone else was looking at their phones. I remembered them telling me to look for green heads, so I quickly looked around. There were ducks coming in and I asked, “Do we shoot? They have green heads!” Everyone immediately jumped up, yelling, “Yes! Shoot!”

Those are the moments we still laugh about today.

After several successful hunts and unforgettable memories, I’m now gearing up for the adventure of a lifetime, heading to Africa, where I can’t wait to harvest some beautiful animals and create even more memories in the field. – Maricela Medina
