Montana Extends Quarantine Order and Suspension of Nonresident Spring Hunts

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has suspended the nonresident hunting seasons for spring turkey and black bear through April 24, 2020. The suspension aligns with the extension of Montana Governor Steve Bullok’s directive that out-of-state travelers must quarantine for 14 days.

The quarantine directive applies to all out-of-state travelers, whether they are hunting and fishing, grocery shopping or conducting other activities. Bullok says travelers from out of state increase the risk of spreading COVID-19 to Montana residents.

Montana’s spring turkey season begins April 11, and spring black bear begins April 15. Both will be open to resident hunters. However, travel and social distancing directives must be followed. Nonresidents who wish to return their license will be issued a refund. For more information visit fwp.mt.gov.
