I Still Wear Prada; It’s Just in Camouflage

Gina Sadowski is a retired anesthesiologist from Chicago who wore Prada to the office. These days her favorite pass time is operating a John Deer tiller and creating food plots for a variety of wildlife in the Minnesota countryside.

“I spend my weekends planting food for deer and waterfowl,” she said. “But I still wear Prada. I found a pair of their boots in camo!”

Gina started hunting when her husband, Steve, took her to a duck blind. She has since accomplished the 43 North American waterfowl challenge, is working on her wild turkey slam, and has hunted polar bear, five species of caribou, many species of deer, elk and many more  big game species in the US and abroad. Last year, she ventured to British Columbia, where she rode horseback 109 miles through the high country.  Despite saddle bruises, dodging a bucking horse that her guide saved her from being trampled by and the challenges of high altitudes, she successfully shot a dandy Shiras moose with Steve as her cheerleader.

Her advice to other women hesitating to embrace the hunting lifestyle is, “Get out of your comfort zone, and go for the adventure, even if it is not so easy!”

After mastering cardiovascular anesthesia and critical care, working for years in a level one trauma center, Gina says, “Now, hunting and being out in the beautiful wilderness, IS my comfort zone!”
