Hunting Contest Ban Introduced In Maryland Legislature

A bill to prohibit organized hunting contests has been introduced in the Maryland General Assembly.

If passed, House Bill 0863 would:

Prohibit a person from sponsoring, conducting, or participating in organized contests that have the objective of hunting or killing certain wildlife for prizes or monetary awards.

Provide for the treatment or humane euthanasia and disposal of certain wildlife injured or killed during the course of an organized contest conducted in violation of the Act.

HB-0863 has been scheduled for a hearing on Wednesday, February 26 at 1 PM in the House Environment and Transportation Committee.
