Celebrating SCI At 50: Now The Work Begins

BY SVEN K. LINDQUIST, SCI President

The 50th anniversary year has provided an opportunity for celebration and much reminiscing. Yes, 2022 started off with a world-class Convention that allowed SCI members from around the world to gather, reconnect and spend time with our valued exhibitor and outfitter friends.

A heart-felt Thank You to all who attended and so graciously and generously assisted SCI to celebrate in grand fashion raising necessary funds to properly pursue the advocacy programs and further the mission of SCI. The 2022 SCI Convention will remain, for years to come, in the hearts and minds of those who attended.

This year we will continue with the necessary in-depth planning for the move of the SCI Ultimate Sportsmen’s Market to Nashville February 22-25, 2023. Please save the dates and make plans to attend. SCI in Nashville will set the bar at a new level as SCI members converge on the home of country music. Nashville has promise to provide one of the best SCI Conventions.

The heaviest of all lifting has begun and will continue until election day. Much of this hard work and need comes in the form of the U.S. midterm elections. The stakes have never been higher, and the need has never been greater to provide assistance to pro-hunting candidates for Congress, the U.S. Senate and to gubernatorial candidates across the nation.

Thanks to the generosity of SCI members and the contributions that were made to SCI-PAC and HAF (SCI Hunter Action Fund) during Convention, at SCI chapter fundraisers and through personal communication, SCI is poised to have an effect on the upcoming elections. The sad fact of elections is that each election cycle causes the need to raise more and more money to make a difference in various races. SCI will continue to raise needed dollars throughout this election cycle and your further con-tributions will be greatly appreciated.

The SCI advocacy work in Washington, D.C. is one of the cornerstones of our great organization. The SCI Washington, D.C. office building is also on a corner and serves as a cornerstone for a prominent SCI presence in our nation’s capital. This presence is what greatly sets SCI apart form other like-minded organizations.

The ability of SCI to host and promote various issues from what’s known as the World Headquarters of SCI make us real players in one of the toughest arenas on the planet. As SCI members, you should all be proud of the fact that SCI has historically had, and will continue, to occupy a prominent place in D.C.

Every day SCI is striving to live the SCI mission statement: “To protect the freedom to hunt and to promote wildlife conservation worldwide.” As members of SCI, with your continued dedication, SCI will remain the Number One voice for hunting worldwide.
