Around the States: Florida, Montana, Maine

Florida: House Joint Resolution 1157 proposes the creation of Section 28 of Article I of the State Constitution to preserve in perpetuity hunting and fishing as a public right and preferred means of responsibly managing and controlling fish and wildlife. Florida advocates, take action here!

Montana: SCI joined 12 other hunting and conservation organizations in testimony opposing SB 533, which would repeal nonresident college student hunting licenses at a reduced cost and limit nonresidents to 14 days under a permit.

Maine: SCI President Sven Lindquist submitted a letter in opposition LD 814 which would reduce the current year-round coyote season by more than half and significantly hamstring the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife’s (DIFW) ability to appropriately manage coyote populations.
