Because seeking to erect a granite monument to lobsters that were killed when a seafood truck overturned or having the founder of your organization request her body be used as a human BBQ upon her death isnât bizarre enough, PETA is now claiming dairy milk is a symbol of white supremacy.
In an effort to smack people in the face with the âwrongnessâ of the traditional beverage of choice to go with their cookies, PETA claims âthe white stuff isnât always the right stuff.â
According to a report in The Daily Mail, the animal rights group attempts to bolster its argument by linking its claims to movie characters who drink milk in an apparent expression of white supremacy.
In one reference, PETA cites a character in the Quentin Tarantino film Inglorious Basterds who drinks a glass of milk, saying âdairy milk has long been embraced as a symbol of white supremacy.â Why? Because, well, art imitates life? Or maybe because there is no legitimate linkage, so they just make stuff up.
In a 2017 blog, PETA posted the following warning that the dairy industry inflicts violence, including rape, on other living beings:
âAside from âlactose-tolerantâ white supremacists, cowâs milk really is the perfect drink of choice for all (even unwitting) supremacists, since the dairy industry inflicts extreme violence on other living beings. PETA is trying to wake people up to the implications of choosing this white beverage and suggesting that they choose something else pronto.â
The PETA blog concluded with this admonition:
âBefore you pour a glass of the âwhite stuff,â please remember that it isnât the âright stuff.â If you feel that all life should be free of violent control, choose soy, almond, rice, cashew, or coconut milk the next time that you go shopping or order coffee. With so many different types of cruelty-free, delicious milks on the market, opposing supremacists has never been easier.â
It appears the wacky animal rights group has finally gone too far. Twitter followers have poked fun at PETAâs latest foray into telling people what to ingest. One response claims white supremacists are addicted to breathing oxygen while another calls the PETA milk campaign embarrassing.
Agreed.
