Senate Environment And Public Works Committee Holds Hearing On Aurelia Skipwith Nomination
The Senate EPW Committee held a hearing today to consider President Donald J. Trump’s nominee for Director of the United States Fish and Wildlife Service.
Currently serving as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Fish Wildlife and Parks, Aurelia Skipwith is particularly qualified to serve as Director. In her current role, she oversees a team of wildlife professionals responsible for the protection and stewardship of lands and waters within the national wildlife refuge and national park systems.
Ms. Skipwith received her B.S. in biology from Howard University, an M.A. in molecular genetics from Purdue University, and a J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law.
“Aurelia Skipwith is the game changer that the Fish and Wildlife Service sorely needs to direct it,” said Safari Club International CEO W. Laird Hamberlin. “Safari Club International urges the U.S. Senate to follow-up on her strong hearing performance and bring her confirmation to a floor vote as soon as possible.”
If confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Skipwith would be the first African American woman to serve as the agency’s director.
SCI will continue to track further developments and keep our members informed as they occur.
