SCI Commends President Donald Trump’s Executive Orders Expanding Hunting and Fishing Access

Safari Club International applauds President Donald Trump’s new executive orders, “Reinvigorating America’s Hunting Heritage” and “Restoring American Saltwater Angling and Recreation,” expanding hunting and fishing access across the United States.

SCI has long advocated for policies that recognize hunting and fishing as cornerstones of American wildlife conservation and outdoor heritage. The President’s actions, which encourage greater access on federal and state lands, expand hunting on national monuments, increase the use of skilled volunteers to manage abundant wildlife populations, and support venison donation efforts, among other things, reflect a commitment to keeping America’s outdoor traditions accessible for current and future generations.

These orders advance priorities SCI has raised directly with the Administration. They build on the Administration’s growing record on these issues, including the executive order reinforcing the need for scientific review of the Endangered Species Act listing status of wolf populations, the executive order expanding access to federal lands under the Make America Beautiful Again initiative, and Secretarial Order 3447 prioritizing hunting and fishing access on federal lands. This demonstrates the Administration’s consistent alignment with the interests of hunters and anglers.

“President Trump has once again demonstrated the Administration’s dedication to America’s sportsmen and anglers,” said SCI CEO W. Laird Hamberlin. “These executive orders make it abundantly clear that the federal government stands with the hunting and fishing community, supports expanded access, respects state authority, and protects the tools and traditions that make regulated hunting and fishing possible. SCI looks forward to working with the Administration, Congress, and state partners to turn these directives into real gains for hunters and anglers across the country.”
