WGH Launches 2027 Hunting Awards Photo Challenge
Women Go Hunting is challenging ALL women who hunt to celebrate and document their hunting accomplishments by entering the 2027 WGH Hunting Awards Photo Challenge. Participants can win a $100 gift card from sponsor Próis Hunting.
The WGH Challenge is part of an initiative to empower women of all experience levels on their hunting journey and lifestyle. The Challenge gets women to document their hunting achievements by submitting a photo of themselves with an game animal they hunted to WGH and the SCI Hunting Awards Program – no measurements or minimum scores required.
“Women Go Hunting is a free women’s-only group within SCI dedicated strictly to supporting women on their hunting journey,” said WGH chair Denise Welker. “Our Hunting Awards Photo Challenge is just one way we recognize women for their hunting accomplishments, no matter the size of their trophy, whether they hunted in their own back yard or overseas, and whether they hunted with a guide or on their own.”
Working with SCI’s Hunting Awards Program and Record Book Department, WGH encourages ladies to use the World Hunting Award Field Journal to track and document all the species and destinations they have hunted. Then WGH helps them celebrate those accomplishments through the WGH Challenge. All participating women are recognized across WGH or SCI platforms, showcasing their photographs and crediting them for their hunting successes.
“We love this partnership with Women Go Hunting,” says Próis Hunting creator and president Kirstie Pike. “Their Hunting Awards Photo Challenge isn’t a silly gimmick or pointless pageantry, but a genuine program to recognize all women who hunt and draw them into a thriving sisterhood that is focused on uplifting each other without criticism or judgement. I encourage all women to participate!”
The Challenge allows women to enter any species recognized by the SCI Record Book program, including turkeys. One entry will be selected as a winner for animals taken in each of the following categories: Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, South America, South Pacific, Turkeys of the World, and First-Time-Entries. Two overall winners will be drawn as well. So, there are plenty of opportunities to win!
The WGH Hunting Awards Photo Challenge runs now through December 30, 2026. Winners will be drawn at random for each category in January 2027 and will be announced by March 1. All entries will be recognized on the WGH web page, Facebook group, and other SCI platforms. Entry to the Challenge is free. Entries to SCI’s World Hunting Awards Program are $35 and are automatically entered in the WGH Challenge at no additional charge. Participation in the SCI World Hunting Awards Program is not required to enter or win, and all entries have equal odds of winning.
