Fish and Wildlife Directors from Western states gathered at the 2019 SCI Convention to discuss challenges, strategies and successes they have experienced during the past year.
Moderated by John Frampton, President and CEO of the Council to Advance the Hunting and Shooting Sports, the panel included Tony Wasley (NV), Mike Fowlks (UT), Ed Schreiver (ID), Eddie Grasser (AK) and Scott Talbott (WY).
Although each state has specific issues, all the directors agreed on several points. For example, each of the panelists expressed concern over chronic wasting disease (CWD), with cases recently found in Wyoming and Montana. All states are working on regulations to address the disposal of carcasses as well other methods of eradicating/avoiding the disease.
